What is Chi and why does it matter for your health?
Chi (also spelled Qi) is a fundamental concept in traditional Chinese medicine and martial arts, referring to the vital energy that flows through the body. It is often described as the vital force that sustains us, influencing our physical health, emotional well-being and overall vitality. When Chi is balanced and flowing freely, we feel strong, energised and resilient. However, when it is blocked or depleted, it can lead to fatigue, pain and illness.
I chose to use the word Chi in my nutrition and health coaching because it perfectly aligns with my aim of supporting people live healthier by restoring order in their body and mind through natural healing. The word Chi represents more than just energy—it embodies the balance of nutrition, movement, rest, mindfulness, goal setting and connecting. It reflects the idea that “Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease” (World Health Organization (WHO) definition of Health).
By incorporating elements like Tai Chi-inspired movements (Chi-Me), mindful breathing and nourishing foods, I help you cultivate your Chi in a way that feels natural and sustainable.
